Managing Crop Load in European Pear (Pyrus communis L.)—A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Reducing levels of fruit set is often desirable in many European pear (Pyrus communis L.) cultivars. With a negative linear relationship between crop load and size, management early the season minimises wastage tree carbohydrate resources provides maximum benefits terms size quality. There are several tools available for managing including hand thinning, chemical photosynthetic inhibition through shading or application chemicals, mechanical thinning pruning. While most accurate method reducing excessive loads, there some major drawbacks. awareness that offered by distinct advantages with regard to other quality parameters, gaining increasing acceptance production. Some chemicals used worldwide but differences countries growing regions on recommended timing concentrations. The risks involved can be mitigated use structured approach, using sequential spray program both bloom post-bloom thinners. Knowledge conditions impact carbon balance ability make carbon-deficit likely improve predictability thinning. Mechanical has potential as tool, over it environmentally friendly, organic production not weather dependent. Although artificial bud extinction been trialled pears date, shown economically viable apple. As precision resource wastage, should given serious consideration. growers require large annual yields high-quality fruit, aim this review was examine current methods cultivars provide portfolio options integrated into systematic approach load.

The Draft Genome Sequence of European Pear (Pyrus communis L. ‘Bartlett’)
We present a draft assembly of the genome of European pear (Pyrus communis) 'Bartlett'. Our assembly was developed employing second generation sequencing technology (Roche 454), from single-end, 2 kb, and 7 kb insert paired-end reads using Newbler (version 2.7). It contains 142,083 scaffolds greater than 499 bases (maximum scaffold length of 1.2 Mb) and covers a total of 577.3 Mb, representing ...
متن کاملvariation in some european pear (pyrus communis l.) seedling rootstock populations using morphological chracteristics
many characteristics of pear trees such as growth, fruit size and yield, are influenced by the genetic characteristic of the rootstocks. in iran, mainly european pear seedlings (pyrus communis l.) are used as the rootstock in the pear orchards. thus, evaluation of pear seedling rootstocks is an important task. this experiment was conducted in 2009 and 2010 growing seasons in order to explore th...
متن کاملEffects of water stress cycles on turgor maintenance processes in pear leaves (Pyrus communis).
Effects of water deficits on leaf turgor maintenance processes were analyzed for pear trees (Pyrus communis L. cv. "Barlett") grown in 120-liter containers. Four irrigation treatments were applied: a well-watered control treatment, a spring water stress cycle (Sp), a summer water stress cycle (Su), and a spring plus summer water stress cycle (Sp + Su). For the Sp treatment, water application wa...
متن کاملAsynchronous development of stigmatic receptivity in the pear (Pyrus communis; Rosaceae) flower.
While stigma anatomy is well documented for a good number of species, little information is available on the acquisition and cessation of stigmatic receptivity. The aim of this work is to characterize the development of stigma receptivity, from anthesis to stigma degeneration, in the pentacarpellar pear (Pyrus communis) flower. Stigma development and stigmatic receptivity were monitored over tw...
متن کاملProtein Synthesis and Breakdown during Heat Shock of Cultured Pear ( Pyrus communis 1 . ) Cells
Cultured pear (Pyrus communis 1. cv Passe Crassane) cells were subjected to temperatures of 39,42, and 45°C. Heat-shock protein (hsp) synthesis was greater at 39'C than at temperatures above 40'C and continued for up to 8 h. Both cellular uptake of radiolabeled methionine and total protein synthesis were progressively lower as the temperature was increased. Polysome levels decreased immediately...
